Bob Chiswell Classic Qualifiers Released

Here are the qualifiers released by meet management for the Bob Chiswell Classic on Wednesday February 22nd at Garfield High School. The meet kicks off at 5:00 pm and the doors open an hour before.

Notes heading into the meet... In the boys high jump Ronniel Johnson of JFK Paterson is the top returner from the 2016 event, ranked second in the series at 5-10. His teammate Jason Thobourne leads the way into the final at 6-08, video above, ranked second in the state this season. The boys throws features the third ranked thrower in the state Giovanni Gutierrez of Saddle Brook, he has a mark of 58-03 in the series and 59-06.5 on the season. He is also the top returner from last year's Chiswell Classic where he placed second throwing 50-01 as a junior. 

On the girls side two head into Chiswell at 5-0 in the high jump, Ohr Yahalomi of Northern Valley Demarest and Anna Boddy of Waldwick. The top returner from last year's meet is ranked third at 4-10, Kornelia Jablonska of Garfield and she finished first overall in 2016 with that same height. In the shot put Shelby Bigsby of Montclair has the farthest throw of the series ranked as the top seed at 37-9. Bigsby has thrown much farther elsewhere this season currently ranked fifth in the state at 42-4.5, that mark was thrown recently at the Metropolitan Invitational.
