Jack O'Leary Lid Lifter Invitational

We were on site recording races and taking photos of the action as New Jersey's indoor season kicked off Friday at the Jack O'Leary Lid Lifter Invitational.

First off this meet had two meet records set. Eric Clay of Morristown ran his own race and won the 1600 meter with a time of 4:29.53 NJ#3 to break Andrew Adams' record of 4:33.17 set in 1998. You can watch Clay's race here. From there we head over to the girls high jump where Meghan O'Malley of Randolph cleared 5-5 NJ#2 to out jump the record of 5-4 held by a three way tie ranging from 2002 to 2016. O'Malley didn't stop there either winning the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.18, she led preliminaries with 9.08 NJ#9

This meet had two other athletes who also won two events. For the boys Daniel Post, a senior from Mendham, earned wins in the high jump at 5-8 and in the 55 meter hurdles  with an 8.14. On the girls side Kyra Velock shined with her wins, she fought back to take the lead on the last lap of the 600 meter running 1:42.60 NJ#5 and then doubled to win the 1,000 meter with a time of 3:16.35.

We also saw a solid throw in the shot put from John Burk of Parsippany, he threw for a 54-5 NJ#3. This is his third time over over 54 feet during indoors and the best start to a season in his career.
