What better way to cap off one of the best girls throwing seasons in state history than having our state leading US#1 and US#2 ranked shot putters go head to head at Nationals?! Whippany Park's Nickolette Dunbar, US#2 this season, continued her success winning a national championship shot put title with a mark of 54-07.50. Our US#1 ranked athlete Alyssa Wilson of Donovan Catholic took second with a mark of 53-03.5, and we had two other athletes make the top ten as well with Jessica Molina in seventh and Danielle Notarfrancesco in ninth.
Dunbar and Wilson had been going back and forth during their head to head match-ups this season. Wilson winning Easterns on March 1st with a mark of 54-11, Dunbar second at 51-08, and Dunbar taking the Meet of Champions back on February 27th with 53-2 over Wilson who was second at 50-00.
