NJSIAA Approves Awards Ceremony Stage for Group Championships and Meet of Champions!

On his 2nd full day as the Assistant Director of the NJSIAA, Bill Bruno gained approval for the rental and use of a stage on which to conduct the awards ceremony for both the Cross Country Group Championships and the Meet of Champions. A canopied stage will be rented and erected at Holmdel Park for both of these Championship Meets (11/14 & 11/21).
After the Monmouth Co. Parks Dept. took an old awards platform out of service a few years ago, the awards ceremony for the XC Meet of Champions was held on the grass adjacent to the starting line. Popular opinion thought that the student athletes deserved a more fitting venue to recognize their accomplishment.
Bruno, who succeeded the late Don Danser as the nominal head of High School XC/Track and Field in New Jersey agreed with the sentiment and worked to make it happen. He and Meet Director Ed Colonna will meet with Monmouth Co. Parks Dept. officials soon to determine placement of the staging.
