Results Board for Week 2! All Over the Map!

WOW week 2 for high school cross country came and left with a bang. Races all over New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York that posted fantastic scores and marks.

09/12 Backwards Bowl Invitational R

The very first running of the Backwards Bowl, the winners are all meet records! Individually for the boys senior Kyle Mueller of Brick Memorial won with over a 20 second lead running 17:06. The Brick Memorial boys gave them to their last point with a second place 51 point finish however the Raritan boys took the team title with 50 points and an 18:34 team average! They were led by senior Joe Bitto who placed second with a 17:32 and sophomore Donovan Hackley who took third right behind him at 17:38. 

On the girls side sophomore Megan Boese of Raritan won individually with a time of 21:20. She fended off Matawan's number one runner Rachel Kenny, a freshmen!, who took second with a time of 21:37. Matawan would earn six of the the top ten places and win the meet with 24 points and a team average of 22:59. Also placing in the top five overall for Matawan was Daniella Veliz with 22:20, and Amanda Ferrara clocking 22:31.

 

09/12 Red Raider Run R
North Rockland
Stony Point, NY

Secaucus HS and Ramsey HS both made the trip up to Anthony Wayne State Park in Stony Point, NY for the Red Raider Run. The Ramsey Girls ran well enough to take second as a team in the Varsity Division 1 race. They scored 87 points with a team average of 22:03. They were led by a top ten finish thanks to sophomore Victoria Clinton who placed 8th with a time of 20:51. The Ramsey Boys took on the Boys Varsity Division 2 race where they finished 4th as a team. The boys posted a 17:35 team average and were led by Rory Greenshields in 9th with a time of 17:04. Also in the top 15 overall were Jeff Friedemann in 12th at 17:19 and Kevin Flood 14th with 17:20. 

In the Girls Varsity Division 2 race Secaucus took 7th as a team with a time average of 24:02. They were led by Roshni Patel who earned 13th with a time of 21:02. The Boys of Secaucus took 6th as a team in the Division 1 Varsity Boys race. They totaled 178 points with an average of 18:58. They were led by Sondy Polanco who took 10th overall with a time of 17:31. Shaun O'Brien took 13th with a time of 17:35. 

 

09/12 Season Opener Invitational R
 
Mahwah, NJ

The Indian Hills boys and the Academy of the Holy Angels girls showed great early season form as they dominated their respective race divisions! Quick meet recap on the click-side!

 

A great meet with amazing atmosphere! The 2 mile course was flying on Saturday as the rain held off and we had perfrect racing weather. NJ MileSplit was on site for photos, video, and more!

South Jersey teams went all out in their races and Briana Gess put on a show running the fastest time of the day by far!

The Ridgewood girls traveled to University Park, PA on Saturday morning to compete in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. The long trip was well worth it as the Ridgewood girls dominated for first overall as a team! 

 

09/13 19th Annual Roxbury Invitational R
Roxbury HS 
Roxbury Twp, NJ

Toms River North boys and Summit girls the top four scoring varsity races at the Roxbury Invitational on Saturday! Colin Daly of River Dell and Sierra Castaneda of West Morris Central clock the fastest times of the meet!

09/13 37th Newark Academy Invitational R
Newark Academy
Livingston, NJ

The highlight of this meet has to go to Edwin Rutto of St. Benedict's Prep who ran a 15:35 to win by almost a minute in the boys race!! The girls fastest time was Giavanna Tabbachino of Immaculate Heart Academy who posted a 20:00 for first. Both led their teams to team titles with their one cards. 

The St. Benedicts Prep team scored 1-4-7-14-17 for 43 points and a team average of 17:11. Following Rutto's time; Benhamin Guerin 4th 17:14, Stephen Valvano 7th 17:24, Scott Bamberg 14th 17:49,  and Steven Payne 17th 17:55. 

The Immaculate Heart Academy girls scored 54 points with a 1-3-12-17-21 stat line and a team average of 21:13. Follwing up Tabbachino's one card; Megan Brockmeier 3rd 20:11, Caitlin McPartland 13th 21:44, Emily Bermudez 19th 22:00, and Heather O'Rourke 24th 22:12.

The Rumson Fair Haven girls and Highland Regional boys dominated the 20th annual St. Dominic Academy Invitational on Saturday.
