With an hour to go before the first gun the atmosphere here at David Noonan Field is getting electric. Teams are streaming in, athletes are warming up and the 2014 Central Jersey Groups 1 & 4 Championships will be taking center stage.

We just finished talking with Metuchen Boys coach Marty Holleran to get some of his insights on his team's (a perennial G1 powerhouse) outlook for this weekend. We'll have our interview with Marty posted later this evening after Day 1 of the meet

400m Hurdles                      

Girls Group 1 /  The 1st winner of the weekend is Mackenzie Rovero ('12) of Metuchen HS with a time of 65.66. She wins over Amanda Harding ('11) also of Metuchen witha 67.64. Tghird place went to Autum Thompson, a shoph from Dunellen with a time of 68.12

Girls Group 4 /  Host Hillsborough goes 1-2 in the Gr. 4 race with winner Olivia Mukendi going 64.56 and teammate Amanda Catelano running swcond in 64.62. The Bronze medal went to Nprth Brunswick's Shelby Francis with a 65.77.

Boys Group 1 / The Metuchen Boy's mirror the Girls success with another 1-2 finish. Trevor Firgau breaks 60 seconds with the win in 59.17, while his teammate Travon Latouch gets silver in 60.56. Darron Watson of South Hunterdon picks up 3rd also in 60.56

Boys Group 4 /  Shawn Reynolds of Monroe wins the Gr. 4 Boys race with the fastest time of the day (55.02). He is followed by WW-P North's Jamel Johnson with a 55.79 and Alex Ramirez of Old Bridge gets 3rd in 55.92.

Note -  With just the Gr. 4 Boys to finish up, the Metuchen Girld  Boys and the Hillsborough Girls all have 18 points

1600m Run                       

Girls Group 1 /  Soph Rachel Suss continues Metuchen's winning ways as she takes the 1600m with a time of 5:17.97. Second place goes to Megan Friscia of New Providence who ran 5:28.02. Alyssa Buccino round out the medals with 3rd in a 5:31.19.

Girls Group 4  Ciara Roche of Freehold Twp. is your G4 1600m champ, running 4:59.99 for the win over Simone Countd of WW-P North (5:03.50) and Christine Rancan of WW-P Soth (5:03.85)

Boys Group 1 / New Providence picks up 18 points with a 1-2 finish in the G1 race. Davis Adams ran 4:35.17 for the win closely beating teammate Jordan Price who finished in 4:35.48. Dan Buccino, a senior from Dunellen gets 3rd with a clocking of 4:36.20

Boys Group 4 / In what was a blanket finish, South Brunswick's Nick Neville led a 1-2 sweep of the G4 race. His time of 4:19.4 edged teammate Morgan Murray who ran 4:19.53 for 2nd. Hillsborough's Nick McFarland brought it home in 4:19.94 for Bronze

Girls Group 1 / The winner of the G1 100 Meter Dash is Aaliyah Courtney, who sped to the win in 12.62. Silver medalist, Malika Johnson of Metuchen best teammate Ariana Santo Pietro who ran 12.78 for third.

Girls Group 4 / North Brunswick senior, Essence Harris powers to the win in the G4 final with a time of 12.37 over WW-P North's Paty Dziekonska who ran 12.42.. Bronze goes to Jalayazha Ford of Trenton Central (12.46)

Boys Group 1 /  Metuchen adds to it's medal haul as Ivan Gulyaev (11.21) and Julian Lenartowicz (11.42) lead the 100 Meter finals.

Boys Group 4 /  Your winner of the Boys G4 100m final is Colin Winslow of Sayreville in 10.90. He is followed by teammate Linwood Crump at 11:08 and South Brunswick's LElijah Suggs take Bronze in 11.11

Girls Group 1 / Metuchen's Amanda Harding wins in 61.08 with Vivian Orleans of Jonathan Dayton second in 61.80. Bronze goes to Ciara Sellers also of Metuchen, coming home in 62.17

Girls Group 4 /  Desiree Osley, a soph from South Brunswick runs 58.52 to win the G4 400 Meter crown over Jenna Sobieski of Old Bridge (59.14) and Emily Bracher of Freehold Twp (59.22)

Boys Group 1 /  Metuchen duplicates it's 100m results as Ivan Gulyaev (50.36) and Junlian Lenartowicz (51.36) repeat their earlier placings. Ryan Daniel takes third (51.67)

Boys Group 4 Colin Winslow of Sayreville runs 49.63 to edge Nasir Haines of Freehold Twp. for the win. Tyree Wilson, also from Freehold Twp. claims Bronze in 50.39

Boys Group 4 The Shot Put title goes to junior Vlad Castillo of Montgomery as he powers one out to 54-3 to best Adam Maid of Brick Mem. who got out to 51-03.5. Chris Simone of Old Bridge gets 3rd on a toss of 50-09.5

Girls Group 4 / Howell's Stephanie Bock tosses the platter 119-10 to win the discus, with teammate Amanda McClintock following in second with a throw of 118-00. Maya Nelson of Old Bridge gets 3rd with a mark of 117-10

Boys Group 1 / National elite Curtis Thompson of Florence comes away with the win with a heave of 189-02. His throw out distaces Ryan Daniel of Burlington City (160-06) and Matt Knigge of New Egypt (157-09)

Boys Group 4 /  Ed Delesky goes 182-10 for the win, while Andre DiPaolo of Hillsborough gets 2nd with a toss of 173-03. Bronze belongs to Cole Collins of Jackson Mem. on a mark of 166-11

Boys Group 4 /  Super jumper Myles Hartsfield of Sayreville flys out to 21-11.5 to win the G4 Championship with Kevin Thomson of East Brunswick second in 20-06.5 and Mike Akortia of Old Bridge right behind at 20-05.75

Girls Group 1 / Milagros Robinson of Riverside soars out to 36-02.25 to claim Gold, while Natalie Suess from New Egypt gets out to 34-04.5 for second. Julianna Giefra finishes 3rd with a jump of 34-01.

Girls Group 4 / With a leap of 38-05.5 Nnenna Ibe of North Brunswick wins the G4 Triple Jump. 2nd place with 36-08 goes to Domoniq Panton of Freehold Twp. and Amber Edwards of Sayreville wins Bronze with a jump of 36-05.
